More timber to come from national forest
Monday, March 3, 2008 at 04:47PM The Times Argus reports that the "U.S. Forest Service is increasing the amount of timber that can be harvested from the Green Mountain National Forest each year by 20 percent." According to officials, the increase represents "a technical correction of an error made when maximum timber volumes were calculated for the forest's new long-term plan." The correction will "increase the maximum harvest from 16.4 million board feet to 19.7 million board feet" but "the number of acres treated or what trees will be harvested" will not change.
