1 in 6 Vermonters binge drink, report says

The rate of binge drinking among Vermont adults is slightly higher than the national average, according to a new federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report. Seventeen percent, or about one-in-six, of Vermonters age 21 or over binge drink, compared to the national average of 15 percent, the report said. Binge drinking has a serious effect on Vermonters’ health and safety, said Barbara Cimaglio, Vermont’s deputy commissioner of health for alcohol and drug abuse programs.
