Vermont communities face 17.5 percent health increase

Health insurance costs for the 243 communities that get coverage through the Vermont League of Cities and Towns are poised to increase by an average of 17.5 percent next year. Cities and Towns Executive Director Steve Jeffrey says officials from Readsboro to Richford are "screaming" at the size of the increase, which is coming at a time when many communities are trying to level-fund their budgets.
